April 14th, 2020 5:20pm -Madison County NY Government Facebook Page

In response to the new information that face masks will help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Governor Cuomo has issued an Executive Order that applies to all essential businesses as an effort to protect the health of essential workers and the public. All employees in the workplace must be provided with and wear face coverings when in direct contact with customers or members of the public. It is the responsibility of the employer to provide the face coverings for their employees effective Wednesday, April 15 at 8 pm. This will be enforced by local governments or local law enforcement as part of Public Health Law.

It should be noted that if any essential employee has their own face covering that meets the CDC guidelines, then the employer may allow the employee to wear it. However, for any employees who do not have a face covering, the business must provide it for them to wear.

For more information on COVID-19 and how to make and wash the recommended cloth face coverings, visit: https://www.madisoncounty.ny.gov/2479/Coronavirus-COVID-19.

We here at Madison County understand that face masks are hard to come by.  That is why we are asking the members of our community who are willing to make masks for essential employees to get in touch with Madison County Emergency Management at em@madisoncounty.ny.gov so we can compile a list and give it to our businesses.  Thank you for your help keeping members of our community safe.
