April 1, 2020
As I sit here working from home, I almost didn’t write a column this week for the library.  But, just because COVID-19 is getting closer to home every day, I still need to work for my patrons; I don’t know what else to do.  I am posting on social media the current services we can provide, accurate information on the COVID-19 virus, unveiling some fun things to do and/or our upcoming summer reading program so we can all look to the future instead of being stagnant in the present.  Be sure to check out our Facebook page for more information.
Currently you may not be able to get physical books in your hands but if you have any digital device with access to the internet, I can help you learn how to use your device to check out e-books, watch movies, get audiobooks, read magazines and much, much more.  Email me at: mrounds@midyork.org or private message the Library on Facebook.  If you need help with your library card number and pin number to access any of this, email me as well and I can help you out!
Some notes to mention, the building will be closed through April 14 (and I suspect longer).  Our book drop is closed so please keep all of our materials as they have been renewed for you until we reopen.  Our programs are cancelled until at least May 1, 2020.  When we know a date that we can reopen or other services we can provide from afar, I will update social media, our website, the signs posted on the door and our answering machine so please check them out from time to time.
Be sure to check out our virtual Easter Scavenger Hunt that begins Friday March 27, 2020.  The link to do it will be posted on our Facebook page and on our website then!  All ages (who have an email address) can do it!  It’s just for fun and something to break up the humdrum of our home life these days.  I hope you enjoy it!
I will miss you all but am excitedly looking forward to reopening to the public when it is safe to do so! If you need to talk, I am here as well.  I miss visiting with many of you already.    Please stay safe, wash your hands, sanitize as you need to, continue to practice social distancing and check in on others, especially the elderly and vulnerable individuals.
