April 29, 2020

I am saddened to write this, but for any of you who do not have social media, have not called the library and listened to the machine or walked over to the library and seen the post on the door, this is for you.  Due to Governor Cuomo’s extension of NYS on PAUSE, we will now be closed through Saturday May 16, 2020.  All programs will be cancelled through May 31, 2020 and possibly longer as right now it is not safe for social gathering events to happen.  When we know a date that we can reopen or other services we can provide from afar, I will let you know.

We are doing virtual programs so come check them out at:  https://morrisvillepubliclibrary.org/events/links-for-virtual-programs/.  Our newest one this week is our Chat around the Circulation Desk program! Miss talking to us?  We miss chatting too!  Join your hosts, Michelle and Jen, every week as we gab about what’s going on, what we are doing, books or movies we read, anything you want to talk about!  Sit down with a cup of coffee, your sewing, etc. and your webcam/mic or phone in!   Every Thursday evening starting at 6:30pm! Link will be posted every Wednesday evening (as it changes weekly) on Facebook and on our website (at the link in this paragraph).  Click the link or call the phone number (on Thursday at 6:30pm) and you can chat with us like we would around the circ desk! Michelle and Jennifer will be talking to our patrons by webcam/mic or phone ins or people can log in and type in the chat (if you do not have a mic). You don’t even need a webcam, you can just log in and see us and type in the chat! Speakers though, are a must!

Once a week, I try and record a book I have read for our younger patrons on Facebook!  I also have a craft they can do after!  The link for the craft and instructions can be found here: (https://morrisvillepubliclibrary.org/events/links-for-virtual-programs/virtual-story-hour-links/).  Check out our library’s Facebook and click on our videos for the stories!

Want to be a part of history? We are in a unique historical moment that will be of interest to future generations. The COVID-19 pandemic is a historical event, unlike anything that we have seen in our lifetime. We have started a blog to document how COVID-19 has affected the library, and the Village of Morrisville, and us personally! We would love to have your input and how your life has been impacted by COVID-19. We would love to hear from kids and adults of all ages! Please email your submissions to Jennifer Forward at jforward@midyork.org to have them posted! You can view what we currently have on the blog here: https://moplcovidblog.blogspot.com/.

Some reminders: our book drop is closed so please keep all of our materials as they have been renewed for you until we reopen.  If you are trying out our digital services and need help, have problems with your library card number etc., want to check out e-books, watch movies, get audiobooks, read magazines and need help, please email me at: mrounds@midyork.org and I will get you the help you need!

I know you all are running out of materials to read or DVD’s to watch.  As soon as we get the okay that we can offer curbside service, I have a plan in place to keep you and me safe and I will start!  Until then, please stay safe and well and talk to you all soon!  I miss each and every one of you!
