ATTENTION PATRONS:

Due to the persistent flu season and concerns about COVID-19 (coronavirus), please know that Morrisville Public Library has initiated enhanced measures in addition to our standard cleaning protocols. The following are the measures we currently have in place to support the health of our patrons and staff:
A.      We ask all who come into our building to follow the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH)  recommendations for staying healthy:
a.  Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (sing the ABC song or “Happy Birthday” twice).  If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer.
b.  Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth if you have not washed your hands.
c.  Try to stay away from people who are sick.
d.  If you are sick, stay home and try to stay away from other people.
e.  Always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (into your elbow) when you cough or sneeze.
B.      Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are available in the program room and at the circulation desk.
C. There has been more frequent cleaning of high touch surfaces; in fact, several times a day.
D.     All toys have been removed from the children’s play area until this pandemic has passed.
E.  If you are unable to come to the library, you can download a variety of free digital material including eBooks, audiobooks, videos and music using your Mid York Library card: https://myls.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/default and click “Digital Downloads” on the right hand side of the page.
F.  Please do not worry about returning your materials if you are home sick.  Remember we automatically renew most items and we do not charge overdue fees.
G. We do not currently have any plans to close or cancel library programs but that may change as the status of the situation changes.  Patrons can monitor our Facebook page for any changes to our services, hours or planned programming. (Feel free to call the library at 315-684-9130 and inquire or email the Library Manager at mrounds@midyork.org as well.)

See the back of this letter for websites where you can find authoritative information on COVID-19.

Thank you for your patience and diligence as we ride out this storm together.

Michelle A. Rounds
Library Manager

Novel Coronavirus Hotline:   1-888-364-3065 for Information about Coronavirus

The CDC, the main U.S. federal agency monitoring and responding to the novel coronavirus outbreak, has created a microsite with frequently updated information for health practitioners, researchers, and the general public. Of particular interest to the public is the Situation Summary, a quick overview with maps of reported coronavirus cases in the United States and globally.

Intended for the general public, this health encyclopedia and information portal produced by the U.S. National Library of Medicine provides background on coronaviruses, along with updated information and links concerning the 2019 novel coronavirus. Users can also search MedlinePlus for links to high-quality health and medical information from other government agencies and trusted third-party organizations.
 Flu prevention links: https://medlineplus.gov/flu.html

The WHO, a leading international health agency helping to coordinate the global response to the coronavirus outbreak, offers global news updates and helpful videos, answers common questions (Should I wear a mask to protect myself? How does this virus spread?), and dispels myths (no, gargling with mouthwash won’t protect against the virus).
