After Governor Cuomo’s April 16 press conference keeping NYS on PAUSE, the Morrisville Public Library’s physical building will remain CLOSED through Saturday May 16, 2020 and we will reevaluate as the situation unfolds. Please stay tuned to our Facebook page, website, signs posted on the door of the building, or our answering machine to receive updates on the services available despite the closure of the physical building. Due dates for any items currently checked out will be extended until we reopen. We continue to miss you all but are excitedly looking forward to reopening to the public when it is safe to do so! Yesterday, an Executive Order by Governor Cuomo was announced that requires everyone who is over the age of 2 to cover their nose and mouth with a cloth face covering when in a public place and unable to maintain social distance. The Executive Order is set to take effect at 8 pm on Friday, April 17, 2020.
New scientific evidence has shown an increase in community transmission of COVID-19. As a result, public health recommendations have been updated to reduce the spread of the virus in a public setting. A cloth face covering will help keep people who have the virus from spreading it, even if they do not know they are infected. This can be done by wearing a scarf, bandana, or a mask made from a t-shirt over your nose and mouth. The face covering should not be a replacement for social distancing.
Madison County does not have the ability to provide every resident with a cloth face covering. We are asking that our residents be resourceful and make their own, or make cloth masks that can be donated or sold to others in our community.

After more than 200 families line up for free milk, yogurt and cheese, SUNY Morrisville plans second dairy drive-thru

A truckload of yogurt, 200 gallons of milk and one ton of string cheese were distributed to more than 200 families during last week’s drive-thru dairy distribution event at SUNY Morrisville.
A second donation event is planned for Friday, April 17, and will include milk, cottage cheese and sour cream, with help from the Morrisville Auxiliary Corporation and the Morrisville-Eaton Central School District.
The drive starts at 4 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m. or when there is no more dairy products available.
The distribution event aims to help families and community members that may be facing food insecurity during the coronavirus pandemic and to support the Central New York dairy industry.
Dozens of cars stretched a mile down the road from the facility for last Friday’s event, according to college officials.
To better accommodate traffic, the pickup location for Friday’s drive will be on Hart Road, which will be closed starting at 2 p.m. for the event. The location is up the road from SUNY Morrisville Dairy Complex.
To take part in the drive, participants will first go to 3555 Eaton Rd./St. and will be directed by signs and traffic officers on where to go.
Participants will be given a pre-packaged bag of dairy products and milk. Proper social distancing and safety must be practiced during the event. Recipients must remain in their vehicles at all times.
Though the drive is free to the public, donations are accepted. For more information or to donate, email Ashley Adams Marshall, SUNY Morrisville assistant professor of dairy science and leader of the event at adamsae@morrisville.edu.

Once on Eaton Street, patrons will be directed where to go to pick up dairy products.
The new location, Hart Road, is just up the road from the SUNY Morrisville Dairy Complex and will better accommodate traffic and pickup. Hart Road will be closed from 2 p.m. on for the event.

In response to the new information that face masks will help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Governor Cuomo has issued an Executive Order that applies to all essential businesses as an effort to protect the health of essential workers and the public. All employees in the workplace must be provided with and wear face coverings when in direct contact with customers or members of the public. It is the responsibility of the employer to provide the face coverings for their employees effective Wednesday, April 15 at 8 pm. This will be enforced by local governments or local law enforcement as part of Public Health Law.
It should be noted that if any essential employee has their own face covering that meets the CDC guidelines, then the employer may allow the employee to wear it. However, for any employees who do not have a face covering, the business must provide it for them to wear.
