Additional hand sanitizer distribution location and times: The Madison County Office of Emergency Management along with the Oneida City Fire Department will be distributing hand sanitizer and cloth face masks to residents beginning on Wednesday, April 29. Supplies will be available at the Oneida Fire Department in a drive thru fashion. Pick up times will be Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 11 AM and 5 PM to 6 PM each day until supplies run out. Please call (315) 363-1910 with questions.

Residents should remain in their car and wear a face covering to receive supplies. Staff involved in the distribution process will be wearing face coverings as well.

We are currently working on adding more dates, times and locations throughout Madison County for distribution.

Not only is it National Superhero Day, it is also School Bus Drivers' Day. These superheroes continue to work hard during this pandemic by delivering meals and handing out food to our community. We'd like to say a huge thank you to all Madison County bus drivers for not only their work during this pandemic, but for all the other times they've shown up and taken care of our students and families.

And thank you to the Oneida City School District for these great pictures showcasing the hard work and dedication our bus drivers have.

Today, April 28th is National Superhero Day and we here in Madison County have plenty of our own superheroes to thank for working tirelessly to protect the public from COVID-19. Whether you’re a doctor, nurse, first responder, police officer, grocery store worker, health department worker, sanitation worker or any other essential worker helping to keep things going, you are our superheroes and we thank you for fighting on the front lines and protecting our community. In Madison County there will still be a Democratic Primary for the 121st Assembly and a Republican Primary for the 22nd Congressional on June 23, 2020.

To reduce any Election Day crowds at the polls, all eligible voters will be mailed an absentee application with a postage paid return envelope. According to the Governor’s Executive Order, voters can choose ‘Temporary Illness’ on the application as a reason (due to the social distancing) to receive an absentee ballot and vote from home for the June 23 Primaries if they choose. Once applications are received at the Board of Elections, ballots will be mailed out starting May 8, 2020.

Uncertainty of the Budget Vote and Elections -
School elections are statutorily required to be held on the third Tuesday in May. However, under Executive Order 202.13, issued by Governor Cuomo on March 30, 2020, school elections were formally postponed “until at least June 1, 2020, and subject to further directive as to the timing, location or manner of voting for such elections. The New York State School Boards Association has obtained informal guidance from the Deputy Secretary for Education in New York that the Order was intended to cover not just school board “elections” but also school board “votes” in general, such as the District’s annual budget vote that had been scheduled to occur on May 19, 2020. In short, like many other events across the State, school elections have been placed on pause. In the meantime, we have deferred initial publication (or any further publication) of the District’s annual vote notice until such time as a date for the District’s annual vote has been established. We will update you as information comes available.
